Roskomnadzor threatened Google corporation with a new fine due to the fact that in May the search engine reduced the intensity of filtering content that is prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation. This was the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov told Interfax.

According to him, in April the company deleted up to 80% of such information, and in May this figure dropped to 67.5%.

“We informed them:“ Colleagues, it was 80%, it was 67.5%. What happened?". We have direct communication channels. But in any company the size of Google, the bureaucracy is worse than in the government, there a request-response takes a month every time, ”said Zharov.

If Google does not begin to increase the number of deleted materials, Roskomnadzor plans to impose a fine on the company.

“There was a fine of 500,000 rubles, there will be 700,000, ” the head of department noted.

The confrontation between the ILV and Google began on November 26, when the department filed an administrative case against the company for refusing to connect to the registry of sites banned in the Russian Federation (FGIS) to filter search results. On December 11, the company was fined 500 thousand rubles.

January 15 Roskomnadzor again demanded from Google to connect to FGIS within 30 days. By mid-February, the search engine removed from the issuance 73% of the links contained in the registry of prohibited information.

Earlier, the head of the RKN reported that by the end of July a draft law could be submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which would revise the punishment system for Internet resources that do not comply with Russian legislation. In particular, it provides for the introduction of multi-million dollar fines for violators.
