Pavel Durov wants to lure the developers of "Yandex" in Telegram

The tough demands of the Russian authorities to provide them with encryption keys from various services provoke an outflow of users to the foreign market. This was stated by the founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov.

A vivid example of such pressure on the Russian IT-business entrepreneur called the situation with Yandex.

“The Russian authorities are forcing Yandex to give them uncontrolled access to personal user data. It is characteristic that this trend is developing against the background of complete disregard for the requirements of the Russian authorities by global IT monopolies. Such a selective application of the rules leads to the fact that the Russian authorities themselves squeeze users into foreign resources.

Thus, the Russian authorities will cripple the local IT market with their own hands, voluntarily handing over the remnants of the true “sovereignty” of the Russian segment of the Internet under the control of the United States – along with the data of tens of millions of Russian citizens, ” Durov wrote.

To solve this problem, he invited Yandex employees to work to create a “global news recommendation service” and “without political censorship.”

“At one time, we organized“ Noah's Ark ”for the best developers of VKontakte, inviting them to work at Telegram. This year we want to give the same chance to the developers of Yandex, who are engaged in content recommendation services. The arrangement of such services as Yandex.News is impressive in technical terms, however it is limited to censorship and the Russian-speaking market, ”said Durov.

Previously, Telegram's work on such a service was not reported.

Recall that in early June, it became known that Yandex did not transfer keys for decrypting data from users of the Yandex.Mail and Yandex.Disk services several months after the request of the FSB. In April 2018, Telegram was blocked for refusing to fulfill a similar requirement in the Russian Federation.

The head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, said that Yandex had “demonstrated readiness for dialogue.” And despite the fact that the company will not provide encryption keys, we are not talking about blocking its services.

In turn, Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov promised Yandex against protection from excessive pressure from the FSB.
