Roskomnadzor demanded that the owners of 10 large VPN services connect to the state information system (FGIS). Otherwise, the agency threatened to block the services.

The report mentions: NordVPN, Hide My Ass !, Hola VPN, Openvpn, VyprVPN, ExpressVPN, TorGuard, IPVanish, Kaspersky Secure Connection and VPN Unlimited. It is noteworthy that Openvpn is not a service, but a program for creating VPN networks.

The Office noted that according to the law "On Information" services should restrict access to sites prohibited in Russia. They have 30 days to fulfill the requirements of Roskomnadzor.

“In case of revealing the fact of non-compliance with the obligations stipulated by law, Roskomnadzor may decide to limit access to the VPN service ,” said the spokesman for the agency, Vadim Ampelonsky.

According to the source "Moscow says" , Kaspersky Lab agrees to fulfill the requirement of Roskomnadzor.

TorGuard service announced that it is refusing to use servers in Russia to avoid threats to the network security of its clients.

In November 2017, the Law “On Information” came into force in Russia, which, inter alia, prohibits the use of VPN services to bypass blockages.

Recall that last year Roskomnadzor published a bylaw regulating the fight against blocking bypass , including via VPN and anonymizers.
