The tax administration of the Chinese city of Shenzhen allowed residents to pay for travel by rail, by public transport and by taxi through the blockchain application. About this reports portal Asia Times .

The initiative was joined by Tencent Internet Conglomerate, Shenzhen Metro Group, MTR Shenzhen Group, Gaoguang Technology and Guangdian Express.

A new blockchain platform is available at Futian metro station. It allows passengers to pay for their digital tickets at the end of each trip through the WeChat messenger app. All payments will be recorded in the blockchain.

Shenzhen is a leading Chinese technology center. About 20 million people live in it. It is expected that the system of selling tickets on the blockchain per day will be able to serve up to 170,000 passengers.

Recall that in February, residents of 37 cities in Argentina were able to pay with Bitcoin in public transport.
