Dmitry Medvedev established a structure to protect the Russian Internet segment

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree establishing the Center for Monitoring and Management of a Public Communication Network. The new structure will be subordinate to Roskomnadzor, Izvestia writes.

The tasks of the Center will include “processing the traffic of domestic telecom operators and state data transmission systems” to ensure the security of the Russian Internet segment.

Thus, experts believe, the government is going to fight the “gray schemes” of passing traffic across the border, where Russian operators annually lose more than 375 million rubles.

Financing of the project is provided in the budget of Roskomnadzor and the Ministry of Communications and will not require additional injections, the government assured.

The center must be created before July 1, and the system subordinate to it must be before January 1, 2020, after the regulations for working with the FSB have been agreed.

Recall that the creation of the Monitoring Center is provided for by the bill on the isolation of the Russian Internet, which was adopted in the first reading on February 12 .

Experts have already warned that its implementation will affect all, without exception, businesses, including cryptocurrency ones , and will cost taxpayers 20 billion rubles.
