BitPay has blocked donations for the Hong Kong Free Press. The victims are ready for a “public war”

BitPay processing BitPay came under another flurry of criticism, this time in connection with the blocking of donations in favor of the Hong Kong Free Press news site (HKFP).

As explained by the founder of HKFP Tom Grandi, donations in the cryptocurrency are temporarily blocked, because BitPay has been refusing to process the relevant transactions for three weeks.

He added that as a reason for the blocking, representatives of BitPay indicated the fact that Hong Kong banks instead of IBAN use the SWIFT system.

“Never use BitPay! This is the worst experience you can imagine – a bad reputation, disgusting communication, terrible support, very high commissions. Any alternative would be better, ”wrote Tom Grandi.

He also added that he had sent messages to the management of BitPay via LinkedIn and was ready to declare a public war on processing, including legal ones.
