The Danish Tax Agency (SKAT) stated that in the period from 2015 to 2017, 2,700 residents of the country did not record Bitcoin trading revenues totaling more than 100 million kroons ($ 12 million). In this regard, the agency intends to revise the declarations of citizens and bring to justice those who hide profits from offshore Bitcoin transactions, according to Finans.dk .

It is noteworthy that the report mentions a certain Finnish stock exchange on which the residents of Denmark traded. Its name is not mentioned, but it can be assumed that we are talking about LocalBitcoins.

At the same time, as SKAT Director Karin Bergen made it clear, the number of persons who may be interested in the tax administration may be even higher.

“At the moment, we have identified individual citizens and are checking the information, comparing it with the already available data. If something does not converge, we will contact them and ask for additional information. But it’s too early to talk about how many people there are and what amounts are in question, ”she said.

Also, the director of SKAT added that those citizens who traded on the aforementioned Finnish stock exchange and did not report on their profits will receive a tax payment request.

Additionally, the department began to check the declarations of bitcoin whales trading on platforms for institutional investors. Some of them the agency intends to bring to justice in the coming months.

Note that the residents of Denmark are obliged to pay taxes when they acquire and then sell assets for profit. In this Scandinavian country, bitcoin is a taxable asset.

According to representatives of the tax service, it is not an easy task to distinguish among cryptocurrency owners who speculate in sales and those who use it for their own needs. Nevertheless, they believe that cases when bitcoin is used not for speculation are single.

Earlier, BlockchainJournal reported that tax dodgers from the cryptocurrency sphere intend to pursue the Israeli authorities.
