From December 20, 2018, residents of six European countries will now have access to the leading cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase:

  • Andorra
  • Gibraltar
  • Guernsey
  • Iceland
  • Isle Of Man
  • Lithuania.

Since its launch in 2012, the exchange has been striving to create an open financial system for the whole world. They managed to do this by expanding their reach outside the United States to 33 countries around the world, and now another 6 in Europe.

New customers in these jurisdictions will have full access only to Coinbase.com and iOS and Android mobile apps. But the exchange has promised to open access to Coinbase Pro and Prime over time.

The Coinbase team said that 2019 will be a year of continuous expansion:

In 2019, the exchange will continue to expand rapidly in new regions, as well as add assets to the Coinbase platform to meet customer demand.

Cryptocurrencies are global in nature, and we believe that they should exist without borders. To realize our mission means to make cryptocurrencies available to everyone, regardless of their geographic location.
