BitPay will not support a possible Bitcoin Cash fork

Bitpay cryptocurrency processing service has announced that it will support the “traditional” implementation of Bitcoin Cash software called Bitcoin ABC.

According to BitPay representatives, backward-incompatible updates of the protocol make it possible to quickly introduce innovative solutions, however they carry the threat of a blockchain split into two competing chains. The company prefers the proven implementation of Bitcoin ABC and does not plan to provide access to the coins, which are likely to appear on November 15 of this year as a result of hard forks.

The company offers to those who wish to receive new coins to import the BitPay private key into a wallet that supports both chains. The company also advised users on the eve of hard forks to refrain from operations with Bitcoin Cash in order to avoid possible loss of funds.

Note that such large companies as Coinbase, OKEx and Binance, also recently expressed support for the implementation of traditional software Bitcoin ABC. At the same time, Poloniex intends to support both Bitcoin Cash chains.

Earlier, BlockchainJournal reported an increase in opposition among Bitcoin Cash developers and features of various clients for this network.
