Aster plans to lock part of the Season 2 airdrop behind a vesting schedule, a move closely watched by market participants because it affects how many tokens reach the market at once. The rule would apply to 320 million ASTER—four percent of the total supply and would delay full access for recipients who earned tokens through Pro mode besides Rh points.
The vesting under consideration targets the Season 2 airdrop allocation and specifically impacts wallets that qualified via Pro mode alongside Rh points. Operators who provide liquidity for the token are tracking the proposal, since staggered releases influence available float and execution conditions.
“We reserve the right to implement vesting and will finalize the decision in the next two or three days”, the chief executive said on a livestream, according to Aster News Today. The short timeline underscores how quickly the distribution mechanics could change for eligible recipients.
The protocol fixed the total supply at 8,000,000,000 ASTER. The airdrop accounts for 53.5% of that amount (4,280,000,000 tokens), setting the stage for one of the largest community distributions in the ecosystem.
Aster’s perp daily DEX volume reaches $85 billion
Of the airdrop, 704 million unlocked at the Token Generation Event on 17 September 2025. while the remaining 3,576 million are slated for linear release across eighty months. In practice, vesting means tokens leave the contract only at set intervals, so supply enters the market in small batches.
Other allocations include ecosystem and community 30% (2,400 million) with twenty-month linear vesting. Team 5% (400 million) with a one-year cliff followed by forty-month linear vesting; and treasury 7% (560 million) and liquidity/listings 4.5% (360 million), both locked after the TGE.
Eligibility depends on Pro mode activity next to Rh points, which score trading volume, order type, position duration, and use of yield-bearing collateral such as asBNB and USDF. The formula is designed to reward steady participation over quick profit taking.
The plan targets three results: limit sudden price drops, align early users and new holders on the same timeline, and encourage continued protocol use. By smoothing inflows, Aster aims to temper volatility while maintaining incentives for ongoing engagement.
For traders and market makers, the direct effect is on liquidity: slower releases shrink short-term supply and can curb sell pressure, yet an overly strict schedule may tighten order books and widen spreads when demand spikes. Risks also include regulatory review of airdrop programs and sensitivity to broader market moves.
The vesting decision is due within days, with the next fixed date being the 5 October 2025 snapshot. Traders should track official channels and size liquidity buffers and hedges once the release timetable is published, adjusting execution strategies to the finalized schedule.
