AsicBoost software released optimizing up to 20% mining on Antminer S9 from Bitmain
Bitmain, the largest manufacturer of mining equipment , introduced the software update for Antminer S9 products, which involves the controversial optimization algorithm AsicBoost.
Also, representatives of Bitmain promised soon to release updates for all ASIC-devices based on the BM1387 chips, including models:
- Antminer R4,
- Antminer S9i,
- Antminer S9j,
- Antminer T9,
- Antminer T9 +.
Bitmain is confident that the AsicBoost solution will increase device performance. The company also noted that at first they did not plan to release software supporting this technology due to possible patent disputes. However, the company's legal advisers assured management that AsicBoost did not have a specific patent application.

Earlier, the protocol optimization algorithm was criticized by the developers of Bitcoin Core. In their opinion, although AcicBoost is capable of increasing device performance by up to 20%, the use of such a solution undermines the stability of the network.
Also in Bitmain stated that the controlled companies pools BTC.com and Antpool have been using AsicBoost since March of this year.
Recall the other day, the developers of the operating system for mining devices Braiins Systems stated that the AsicBoost technology makes it possible to reduce the cost of electricity by 13% in the production of cryptocurrency .
