According to Binance, on the eve of a large-scale “dust attack” on LTC users, attackers were supposed to compromise user privacy.

Binance explains that the new type of attack involves sending small amounts of funds to crypto-wallets of users in order to further track them and identify the owner. Experts explain that phishing attacks on companies usually follow this type of manipulation. Users are advised to ignore dust transactions from unknown users.

The first such attack was carried out to the BTC network in 2017. Then the attackers intended to gain access to the keys to the accounts of the Samourai Wallet application. The developers, however, quickly reacted and the attack was prevented. After this incident, a special button appeared in the application, which just allows users to ignore the small amounts received by the wallet and not spend them later. Apparently, the attackers switched to altcoins.

More recently, a phishing attack was carried out on one of the managers of the Kuna crypto platform, as a result of which hackers stole funds from his personal accounts on the Hotbit and Binance exchanges, and also seized data from correspondence on Telegram. In total, attackers stole 1 BTC. Cybersecurity experts have discovered a script designed specifically for Mac – it allows an attacker to gain access to an infected device.
