In Russia, a ban has been imposed on anonymous online wallets Qiwi, Yandex Money, WebMoney

The anonymous use of online wallets in Russia is becoming a thing of the past: the corresponding bill has been passed by the Federation Council. Thus, payments in runet can no longer be anonymous.

The bill provides for a complete ban on the replenishment of online wallets in cash without verification. If earlier it was possible to throw money on such wallets through the terminals and offices of cellular communication, then after the law came into force this possibility would disappear.

The changes will affect such popular wallets as Qiwi, Yandex.Money, WebMoney, PayPal and others. As soon as the law enters into force, only those who have confirmed their identity will be able to replenish the balance of these wallets.

This change in legislation was initiated by Rosfinmonitoring. According to the agency, anonymous use of online wallets leads to money laundering and other illegal financial activities. This position is doubtful, because all online wallets have long imposed serious restrictions for unverified customers.

Take for example Yandex.Money: anonymous wallets can store only 10 thousand rubles, you can not withdraw this money anywhere, you can only spend it online and contactless payment. With such limits, you are not particularly clever in terms of illegal activities.

Representatives of the online wallets market have already stated that the law is a serious threat to their business. It is understandable: the majority of anonymous users, and not all will go to confirm their identity after the amendment. Moreover, most of these people are not engaged in illegal activities at all – someone buys games online, others pay for various goods on the Internet, etc.

As a result, we can say that the new law is intended only to strengthen the already strict state control over the actions of its citizens. You should not wait for the practical benefits of the project, but it will definitely cause harm.
