Brooklyn’s autonomous communications developer goTenna and Blockstream’s blockchain company have signed a partnership agreement in which they integrate mesh networking technology and the Blockstream Satellite service in order to make it easier for Bitcoin users to translate without an Internet connection.

For example , the Blockstream Satellite is a project to use rented space satellites for transmitting Bitcoin data in real time to any point on the planet, primarily aimed at regions with limited or unavailable Internet connection. To receive data and broadcast your transactions to the network, you must install a satellite dish with specialized software from Blockstream.

goTenna solves a similar problem, however, through mesh networks , within which users can exchange text messages and value in the form of bitcoins. At the same time, this approach is significantly limited by geographic scope.

“Now users will be able to receive Bitcoin network data via satellite and send transactions over the mesh network without access to the Internet,” goTenna said in a statement.

Recall that last year, goTenna began to develop the txTenna Android application, which allows performing bitcoin transactions using mesh networks.
