The researcher allegedly found cold bitcoin wallets QuadrigaCX

The user Reddit under the name dekoze discovered five Bitcoin wallets, allegedly associated with the Canadian cryptocurrency exchange QuadrigaCX.

He found that the total amount of funds located at these addresses is approximately equal to the number of bitcoins mistakenly sent by the exchange to cold wallets, access to which she allegedly lost.

“On February 6, 2019, a cluster of hot wallets reached a balance of 104.33500226 BTC. At the same time, multiple transactions were transferred to five cold wallets that have been inactive since April 2018, ” wrote dekoze.

He added that, probably, these addresses are only part of the QuadrigaCX pool of cold wallets, but without official confirmation from law enforcement agencies his research is “no more than a guess”.

Recall that in January the QuadrigaCX exchange went offline, citing the technical work on the site as a reason. Later it turned out that the site had lost access to $ 190 million in the accounts of its users , and some of the broadcast was withdrawn from the exchange on the eve of its founder’s death .

In early February, due to an error, QuadrigaCX lost another $ 370 thousand more .
