In the first three quarters of 2018 alone, venture investments in blockchain- and cryptocurrency start-ups amounted to $ 3.9 billion, which is 280% more than in all of 2017. This is stated in the new report of the research group Diar.

In addition, as shown in the graph below, the number of investment transactions in 2018 almost doubled, with three more months remaining by the end of the year.

Also, the average size of investments in cryptocurrency start-ups increased by almost $ 1 million – if in 2017 this figure was $ 1.5 million, today this figure is already $ 2.5 million. At the same time, the ten largest venture capital investments in blockchain space this year brought a total of $ 1.3 billion

Explaining the reasons for such a growth in the popularity of venture capital investments among startups, Diar analysts note that 70% of ICO tokens cost less today than during sales. Moreover, the majority of tokens, having reached peak values, then fell in price by more than 90%.

Another reason for reducing the popularity of ICO, according to the researchers, is that project organizers not only have problems with regulators, but they themselves often cannot offer investors sufficient incentives, since they have no contractual obligations on products.

As stated in the report, the amount of funds collected through ICO, as well as the number of successfully certified tokensails, is currently approaching the annual minimum.

Recall, last week there was a study by Elementus , according to which the ICO market is still quite active, for the first time Singapore has overtaken the USA in the number of tokensails, and for all the time projects raised $ 28.4 billion.
