Terrorists have increasingly used cryptocurrency-oriented cryptocurrencies to finance their activities. This was stated by the director of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, at an international meeting of heads of special services, security agencies and law enforcement agencies, RIA Novosti reports.

“So-called confidential cryptocurrencies are increasingly being used, guaranteeing the anonymity of transactions, unlike Bitcoin and its analogues, ” Bortnikov emphasized.

The head of the FSB also noted that terrorists often create shell companies and legally participate in trading on stock exchanges or invest in real estate.

He also sees a particular threat in secure messengers:

“The main communication tool between the bandits is still the Internet messengers with high cryptographic protection. In this regard, we consider a reluctance of a number of the world's leading IT companies to cooperate with special services in the field of information security as a serious problem. ”

Recall, earlier, the idea that cryptocurrencies are actively used to finance terrorism was expressed in the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
